We know what’s happening in America: COVID is everywhere! The United States is once again leading the world, but not in a good way.
On September 15, 2021 — a full year and a half into the pandemic — the United States had over 2200 deaths and more than 163,000 new cases, with 25,000 of those being serious or critical.
Doctors, nurses, and hospital staff have worked tirelessly throughout this nightmare. But due to the number of cases still rising, there is no end in sight. …
Maybe now you will remember his name
As a person in my late fifties, I’ve lived a good bit in life already, and I’ve spent plenty of time in front of the TV. I’ve even written about the effect male and female characters had on me growing up in a couple of recent articles. TV certainly has had a psychological impact on America, and has changed the way we view just about every social issue.
But most TV actors never become A-list celebrities: they are never the stars of the show, or they never become household names. …
One of the more stunning revelations to come out of all the remembrances of 9/11 was a statement by Andy Card, former White House Chief of Staff.
Card — who was the man who informed President George W. Bush that a second plane had hit the second tower at the World Trade Center — was talking about what happened on that dreadful day.
As he discussed Flight 93, the plane that would eventually crash in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, Card made a statement about how the passengers decided what to do when faced with the facts about their hijacked…
President Joe Biden has finally had enough. Enough of Republicans spreading their lies about masks, vaccines, the virus, and all of it. Enough!
Well, it’s about time. Many of us have been fed up for a long time. In fact, I would say we were fed up with this BS so much last year that in spite of the pandemic, we voted Joe Biden into office to fix this mess.
We all know how it started: we all know how Mango Mussolini lied to Americans, telling us it was a hoax, telling us how it would all just go…
Medium is here to make money, and you too can make money writing. But no one from Medium will help you figure it all out, tell you to share your articles in publications or how, tell you what ‘curation’ means (I still don’t understand it) or tell you how this algorithm is supposed to somehow lift your words to the sky.
No one from Medium will give you a list of publications on Medium, or how to connect with them — because Medium is here to make money, not help you figure out Medium.
My simple advice: write…
I know there is little not already said, but I would be happy with a small nugget of original advice. I want to learn something, but telling me how successful you have been, doesn’t teach me anything.
What no one said: Medium is here to make money, and you too can make money writing. But no one from Medium will help you figure it all out, tell you to share your articles in publications or how, tell you what 'curation' means (I still don't understand it) or tell you how this algorithm is supposed to somehow lift your words to the sky. No one from Medium will give you a list of publications on Medium, or how to connect with them--because Medium is here to make money, not help you figure out Medium.
My simple advice: write. Write, and don't concern yourself with anything else. Write because you have something to say, and don't worry if anyone else reads it. Write because something in you has to get out. Write because you are a writer.
This is not another article attacking Texas for passing an insane law about abortions: I have no ability to grasp that level of stupidity, so I would never try to explain it.
No, what I have been thinking about lately is what comes next. Many are already talking about how — by failing to toss out this law — our Supreme Court has laid the groundwork for Roe v. Wade to be overturned. It is entirely possible we will see that happen in the next year.
So, what if it does happen? So what if our nation’s highest court fulfills…
as the seed buds, it has need of a stem,
which slowly, over time, grows a bud;
then nature takes hold and the lonely bee
nurtures the bud to bloom;
so only after a little time the flower becomes
in much the same way romance is kindled slowly at first,
creating embers that smoulder; nature provides the wood
with each breath, sparking and crackling to grow
into a fire-a love-that endures
there is no perfect love, no perfect life, no perfect day
one must learn to enjoy the moments as they come, with each other;
they become memories cast in…
Meathead saved my life.
Growing up in a home with a bigoted father, and a fearful mother, I never knew anything but the distorted beliefs of two very disturbed people. Archie Bunker and my father had a great deal in common, and being raised in that environment produced stifling results.
So, when All in the Family came on TV in 1971, of course my old man had to watch every episode, never realizing it was his bigotry that was being exposed each week. The opposing — and usually morally correct — opinions of the Radical Liberal Mike “Meathead” Stivic opened…
While I am not an expert in the battle between pro-life and pro-choice, I am so sick and tired of those who lie, distort, and twist everything for their own benefit, I have to speak out.
I am pro-choice. I am also a Christian. You might think those two oppose each other, if you’ve listened to the lying crud on the right. I believe life is precious, but I also believe it is not my place to judge another, or to force people to accept my morality as their own.
Jesus demonstrated these principles for us everyday He was here…
